While here, it is also possible to hire a taxi or go by bus to nearby City of the Dead, which houses funerary complexes of the sultans of Mamluk and their emirs. There are great khanqahs here including the Khanqah of Barquq, Khanqah of Sultan Barsbey and the Funerary Complex of Qaytbey.
Cairo, and more notably Old Cairo, also has a lot to offer in the form of amazing architecture and history that is characterized by the Coptic Museum. The Egyptian Antiquities Museum is a must see on every Egypt tour and it may take more than a single day to take it all in as there is a vast collection of Egyptian antiquities to admire and view.
No Egypt tour would be complete without a trip to the pyramids there, and you could enjoy them even more by hiring horses rather than camels at places such as Gaza. There are also many other places of interest that would make an Egypt tour more complete, and these include visiting Alexandria, Memphis and Sakara, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. The more adventurous would find sailing up the Nile on a rented Falouka quite an adventure, though it is not recommended during the summer months when there are too many mosquitoes in addition to the extreme hot weather.
While on an Egypt tour, a trip down to one of Egypt's most isolated settlements called the Siwa Oasis is also worth having on the itinerary as it is a big tourist draw, being far off the beaten track and it provides ample opportunity to have a wonderful adventure and experience at close hand the unique Siwan Berber culture. A Siwa Safari would also add excitement to your Egypt tour, and so too will shopping for the fine crafts made by the locals here.
Dhakla Oasis has hot springs along with camel rides that allow visitors to experience a ride over sand dunes. A Nile cruise, normally between Luxor and Aswan, may offer opportunity to experience the lovely sunsets. The Pearl of the Mediterranean, as Alexandria is known, still attracts the wealthy Cairenes and is a summer retreat worth visiting.
Situated strategically between Africa and Asia, the Red Sea Coast is rich in mineral wealth and is revered as a place of miracles as well as prophets in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. For those familiar with the scriptures, it was actually at this location that God appeared to the prophet Moses. The rest of the story is well known to bible scholars and bible students of how the God of the Israelites delivered them from the Egyptian Army by miraculously parting the Red Sea. Now-a-days, this region is better known for its spectacular diving resorts, stunning coastline and beaches as well as vast deserts and is famous for having the best diving and snorkeling in the world. It may also be important to know that there is a more liberal atmosphere here as compared with the rest of Egypt.
A lot of focus of an Egypt tour centers around the pyramids, which are almost synonymous with Egypt ever since the pharaohs first constructed these massive triangular funerary homes. Just about everyone on an Egypt tour expect to see these wonders and absorb breathe in the rich ancient history that exits at such sites.
The list goes on. There are other wonderful things to see and do when yiy go on an Egypt tour. You can spend time in an ahwa or coffeehouse and experience the taste of strong and dark Turkish coffee, play backgammon as well as smoke the aromatic sheesha pipe. After Hollywood glamorized the belly dance, tourists as well as Egyptians seem besotted by the writhing and juggling of torsos that the belly dancers dish out.
A desert safari is another must on an Egypt tour and the mighty Sahara and Western and Sinai Deserts can be explored in the comfort of a 4 Wheel Driven vehicle. A visit to the Sphinxes should also be at the top of your list. By now you must be convinced that an Egypt tour has many attractions. So, What Are You Gonna Bring On You Adventure Sailing Vacation?
When you decide to book an adventure sailing vacation package, you do not have to worry about the food when as this is usually part of the package. This means you should only need to bring your own personal stuff with you on board so for those who have never done this before, here is what you should bring for adventure sailing.
Given that you will be at sea quite awhile, you should pack a lot of casual gear which simply means lightweight clothing with long sleeves so you avoid getting sunburn during the day. It will also be a good idea to have a wide brimmed hat and a pair of sunglasses to protect your face.
If you want to lounge around on deck, you better have a beach towel with you as well as sun block. Since the weather could get cold at night, you should also have a light jacket.
Charters usually make port stops before heading home so do not forget to bring along a light pair of shoes or sandals so you can do so some sightseeing in the island. It will be good to have some insect repellant with you so do not get bitten by mosquitoes and other insects.
If you are under medication, do not forget to bring it with you. Given that you will be a way for some time, make sure you have your toiletries so you can shave and brush your teeth.
The most important thing to bring with you when you go adventure sailing is a camera. This will allow you to take pictures so you can share this with family and friends when you get home.
For those who want to go swimming, do not forget your bathing suit so you can jump in anytime into the water especially when you just want to cool off. If there is some space in your bag, perhaps you can also pack in some snorkeling gear as some will rent this to you for a fee.
All of this should be placed in a 10 kilogram bag which is preferably collapsible because of the limited storage space on board most ships. This will also allow other passengers to stow their gear.
You do not have to bring your cellular phone with you because in the event that something should happen on board, they have a satellite phone and a radio so rescue can be called in. You also do not need to bring a first aid kit since this is also available on the ship.
If you are bored relaxing on board the chartered ship, you can volunteer and help the crew with sailing like hauling the main sail in the morning, trimming the sails or steering a course during the day. With that, you will not feel guilty having done nothing when you decided to go on a vacation.
Another way to help out is to catch some fish which the crew can serve as lunch or dinner even if the ship has already been stocked with food for the entire trip. You can bring your own rod or check if they have some on board that you can borrow.
Now that you know what to bring for adventure sailing vacation, the only thing you have to do now is book the trip. You can do this through your travel agent or online.
